“You must not misuse the name of the LORD your God. The LORD will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.” Exodus 20:7
“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:26-28

- Before hearing this week’s message, how did you view taking the LORD’s name in Vain?
- Can the significance of taking your spouse's name (or giving them your name) be compared to the idea of being an image bearer of God? How about as a new Creation in Christ?

- Explain what a name is through the lens of Eastern Ancient Culture? How is it different from the western view of a name today?
- Did Jesus represent the name of God the way it should be represented? How so? Give scripture references.
- Read James 1:23-25. How do we gauge if we are good image bearers?

- Do people around you know you are a Christian without telling them that you are? How does your character or reputation reflect Christ?
- Do you change how you behave depending on who you are around? If so, How?
- How can you be a better representation of Christ to the people closest to you? Who can we call on to help?
Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.
Father God, We praise your name. The name which means, “I am who I am.” The unspeakable, most Holy name. We are blessed with the responsibility of representing your name as image bearers. We are given the right to be called Children of God, therefore having the responsibility of representing your name in the best way we can. We often fail, but you are so quick to forgive us for our weakness and sin. We thank you for that Lord. Sanctify us Lord. Holy Spirit, teach us. Expose our hearts and help us to reflect Christ in all we do. In Jesus name, Amen.
