Exploring the Book of Revelation

May 7, 2023

Key Scriptures

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.  Revelation 1:1-3

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • What outlandish predictions about the future have you heard at one time or another?
  • What has been your reaction or impression of Revelation in the past?
  • What does the word “Revelation” mean to you?

Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • In verse 3 of Revelation, why do you think there is an emphasis on reading this aloud?
  • How does the image of Jesus in Revelation 1 compare with how you usually think of Jesus?
  • What are some ways God might bless us through a study of Revelation?

Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.

  • How does it make you feel to realize that God wants us to know what the future holds?
  • What decisions must you make in the coming weeks to obey the Revelation better?

Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Lord, you are so good and loving. Thank you for sending your son down to die for our sins. Thank you for orchestrating the mighty men in the Bible to bring revelation of Jesus for us. We pray for boldness to carry out your word and live a life of servitude. May the Holy Spirit direct and guide us along the path as we bring the word and disciple among all the nations! Use us as you please and give us wisdom with the book of Revelation and the series to come. Amen!

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Make a commitment to reading a chapter in the Bible every day this week.
